Welcome to our IDEAL website.
IDEAL is established as an international nongovernmental organization, as an association of higher education institutions aligned and working in unity to assure excellence in provision of international distance education and cross-border programs and services. It is the goal of IDEAL to delineate and establish standards and procedures for quality and integrity across its member universities, colleges, and training organizations, which shall be accredited to offer distance education and open learning degrees and diploma programs in the Philippines and across the global community. The IDEAL is dedicated to educational excellence and is intended for collaborative development of the association membership for the advancement of the human community and the assurance of academic excellence among its unified membership.
The mission of the International Distance Education Accreditation League (IDEAL) is to assure the highest standards of academic excellence and institutional integrity for international distance education and cross-border institutions of higher education and training. IDEAL shall delineate and establish standards and procedures on a continuing basis for excellence among distance education institutions; shall advance international networking and friendships among its members; promote affiliations, partnerships, and joint ventures; and recognize and honor excellence among distance education and cross-border educators and leaders.
Through the rapid development of international media and globalization of high technology industries, effective student-faculty communication and quality academic instruction of formal programs of study are now able to be carried out via distance education and cross-border institutions. Distance schools convey via alternative means of education, both synchronously and asynchronously, the totality of knowledge, theories, principles and practices, and the qualities of character essential for career advancement. Likewise, cross border collaboration has fast become integral to the evolution of tertiary education worldwide, by distance means at all degree levels. Such activities are successful, whether internal or external to the institutions, and whether pursued in a campus-based or non campus-based venue.
IDEAL has established no preconceived notions as to which delivery models are effective in serving the academic and professional needs of the students. There is, however, a critical need for an institutional accreditation blueprint for international distance education to assure academic excellence among the nontraditional delivery models now operating across the international higher education arena.
